When Ebola Zaire swept across West Africa in early 2014, a research team led by Ó³»­´«Ã½ member Pardis Sabeti worked with collaborators from Sierra Leone and around the world to collect samples, rapidly sequence genomes, and share data in order to accelerate the outbreak response effort.

In this inspiring talk—recorded at the in May 2015—Sabeti recounts the early days of her team’s involvement with the Ebola response effort, shares the lessons learned from her friends and collaborators around the world, and presents her vision for how sharing data openly and rapidly can help improve global response to future viral outbreaks.
