Clinical Research Across the Color Line: A Dialogue on Racial Disparities

In almost every major area of disease research — including cancer, psychiatric disease, and metabolic disease — deep racial disparities persist in patient participation rates. This Ó³»­´«Ã½-wide dialogue with scientists, researchers, cancer patients, and patient advocates aimed to examine the historical context of medical and scientific mistrust in African-American communities and the ongoing public health implications of these disparities. The symposium concluded with a panel of patients and experts discussing strategies to overcome barriers and increase community participation in clinical research.
