Daniel Kohn

Daniel Kohn was the ӳý’s founding artist-in-residence. Following an invitation from ӳý chief scientific officer Todd Golub, he returned in 2012 and created “Instance of a visual dataset,” as part of the ӳý Creative year-long celebration of art and science. As a result of his interaction with the ӳý community, his work now explores the place of science and the structures we use to understand our world.

Kohn’s ӳý commission explored genomics using visual metaphor. He described the installation as “the product of eight years of exposure, discussion, disagreement, and collaboration with ӳý scientists.” Kohn’s work “Instance of a visual dataset” is installed on all floors of ӳý’s 415 Main building.
